EMDR Therapy for Veterans
Trauma-informed care grounded in military experience
If you’re a Veteran struggling with trauma, chronic stress, sleep problems, or feeling stuck after service, EMDR therapy offers a structured, effective way forward—without having to relive everything or talk in circles.

Why This Feels
So Hard
You might notice:
⚫️ constant tension or irritability
⚫️ difficulty sleeping or staying asleep
⚫️ emotional numbness or disconnection
⚫️ guilt or shame that doesn’t make sense
⚫️ feeling on-guard even when nothing is wrong
These aren’t personal failures.
They’re understandable responses to prolonged stress, responsibility, and trauma.
The problem isn’t that you’re broken.
It’s that your nervous system learned how to survive—and never got the chance to reset.

A Veteran-Informed Apprach
As a 26-year Army Veteran, I understand military culture, identity, and the unspoken rules around responsibility, control, and resilience.
In therapy, I serve as a guide—not by pushing you to talk before you’re ready, but by helping you move forward with structure, clarity, and respect for your experience.
This is trauma-informed care that:
How EMDR Therapy for Veterans Helps
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps the brain process traumatic experiences so they no longer feel “stuck” in the nervous system.
Together we work to:
Stabilize
Stabilize your nervous system and build a sense of control
Process
Process traumatic memories without overwhelming you
Reduce
Reduce emotional intensity, reactivity, and shut down
Restore
Restore sleep, focus, and a sense of direction
You don’t have to repeatedly retell your story or relive every detail.
EMDR is structured, paced, and focused on resolution.

Supporting the Issues That Keep Trauma Active
For many Veterans, trauma doesn’t show up only as memories—it shows up as sleep disruption, compulsive behaviors, or attempts to manage stress that have gotten stuck.
Alongside EMDR Therapy for Veterans, I also work with:

Sleep Disruption & Insomnia (CBT-I)
Chronic insomnia is one of the most common problems Veterans face, especially when the nervous system never fully stands down. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) to help reset sleep patterns, reduce nighttime hyperarousal, and restore more consistent, restorative sleep.
Substance Use & Compulsive Coping
Some Veterans use substances or behaviors to manage stress, numb emotions, or get relief from constant activation. When this is present, therapy focuses on stabilization, harm reduction, and understanding what the behavior is protecting, rather than shame or rigid abstinence-first approaches.

These concerns are addressed within a trauma-informed framework, not as isolated problems.
